On a late December night, someone in Chhattisgarh, India abandoned their newborn baby, so small that the umbilical cord was still attached. The chances of surviving without clothes and food were very small.
Luckily, a local stray dog just gave birth to puppies.The dog found the child naked in the field and brought it close to the place where her cubs were resting.
Finally, the next day, the locals in the village heard the baby crying.She was found lying with the puppies, unharmed.In fact, the dogs took this abandoned human as their own.
One of the anonymous locals who spoke to the news about the discovery said:“It’s possibly the warmth from puppies and their mother itself [that] had kept this newborn alive. Usually, the temperature dips at night … I must say, it’s her sheer luck.”
People may not trust stray dogs, but these puppies took better care of the baby than her own parents.
Since newborn babies require constant care and attention, it’s a miracle that this one survived in the cold.While other villagers immediately came to the rescue as soon as they found the child, it is likely that this girl would never have survived without the care of a stray dog and her puppies.
After the police became aware of the situation, the child, named Akanksha, was later handed over to the ChildLine Project, a fund dedicated to helping children in need.The police are still looking for the parents of this cruelly abandoned child.
However we are so lucky that dogs are naturally inclined to help humans whether they get lost or not. This baby certainly owes her life to that fact.
