Usually people call 911 when they find a dog tied up, but when Officer Zieschang gets a call like this, instead of a dog, he finds a deer. When the officer arrived, he was told the deer had been found in the backyard of a house under construction.
The poor deer was tied to a tree. A rope was also wrapped between its antlers. Construction workers cut the rope and freed the frightened animal. But the confused deer didn’t seem to want to go away. This unusual and overly friendly behavior was caught on camera.
No one could explain how the deer could be tied to a tree. Apparently this deer was socialized by some people, who probably fed it. The deer was not afraid of the police. Moreover, he walked over to them and started licking their hands, like a pet. Officer Zieschang named him Uncle Buck.
The next day, something interesting happened. When some media representatives came to do an interview about helping and rescuing the deer, suddenly Uncle Buck appeared and fearlessly approached the people. Apparently he came to see his rescuer, Officer Zieschang. He was again very friendly with everyone, even the cameramen. He looked like someone’s pet.
The officer warned everyone, in case of finding a deer in their backyard, not to shoot them in the city. The police officers, concerned about the safety of the deer, decided to move it, because who knows what could happen to it, when it appears again in this house under construction.
Animal shelter workers quickly put Uncle Buck in a car and took him to a safe place where he will be at peace surrounded by love and care.
