The 82-year-old woman gives part of her pension to help the animal shelters

Many people are not indifferent to the fate of homeless animals, but they do not have the opportunity to take everyone with them. To the best of their ability, sometimes kind and sympathetic Russians come up with different ways to help pets.

An interesting way to help came up with a resident of Blagoveshchensk, Amur region.

Raisa Georgievna is an 82-year-old pensioner who helps the local “Island of Salvation” shelter. She has been a volunteer for more than 20 years. She tries to improve the living conditions of animals, takes care of them, and helps employees. Her way began with sewing beds.

Thanks to Raisa, ex-cats get soft beds. In the shelter, she even has her own conditional workshop. She comes there, sews rags and stuffs ready-made pillows.

She not only sews, but also helps employees in everything, takes care of the dogs and puppies. “I have loved animals since childhood. One day I just came to the shelter and asked how I could help. Many years have passed since then, but I still help animals,” Raisa shared.

“I help them and give part of my pension money. I don’t regret spending money on animals. Of course, I can’t walk with dogs, because I don’t have the strength. In general, my heart bleeds when I think that animals have to spend the night alone, so at least they will sleep in a soft place!” – the pensioner continued.
