An innocent guy condemned to 38 years in prison, raised a puppy

A man convicted without guilt has been released 38 years after being sentenced to life in prison for a crime he didn’t commit. And he didn’t come out alone.

Innocent a 9-month-old black Labrador whom the man adopted while behind bars, was released along with his owner from a Louisiana state prison.

“I named the dog Inn (from innocent) because I was innocent, and she was also innocent of anything” Alexander said.

When asked what he was going to do with his four-legged friend when both of them were free, the former prisoner replied: “We will go to the park, we are going to chase birds. She loves to run.»

Alexander was only 21 years old when he was sentenced to life imprisonment. The man’s release was facilitated by the Innocence Project, a non-profit organization that helps free wrongfully convicted individuals by reopening the case and conducting DNA tests based on the evidence presented.

In the case of Alexander, only a DNA test was enough and he was found not guilty. Lawyers for the project said he was mistakenly chosen as a victim.

“Alexander was subjected to a mandatory life sentence because the lawyer he trusted his fate did nothing to protect him” said Vanessa Potkin, prosecution director after the conviction.

Inn came to Alexander when the prison dog of our hero’s friend brought 10 wonderful puppies. He took one of them, because this particular puppy was the smallest.
The prison staff allowed the guy to keep the dog. And with this pet, he began a new life!

Last month the man went out and his dog came back to him the next day. She was brought by employees of the organization that released the guy, right to his house, where he began to live with his family.

“I feel great” Alexander said, stroking his four-legged friend as he circled around him. “I feel happy, very happy. I said we’ll be free. It’s a good ending.»

It turns out that in life you can’t give up under any circumstances! And even in the most difficult cases, you need to look for the positive and survive in spite of everything …
