Dogs are very loyal to people, their love and loyalty doesn’t depend on the wealth of the owner of his faith, nationality. To become a good friend to a dog, it’s enough just to take care of it and show your love, and the animal will gladly reciprocate.
People don’t always appreciate such devotion from their four-legged friends, often responding to their love with betrayal.
So dogs end up the street, where they are forced to take care of themselves and bear all the burdens of a homeless life. But there are people who can’t get past stray animals. Our story is about such a person who showed kindness, thereby changing his life and the lives of hundreds of animals.
Serbian Sasha Pesic built a dog shelter in his country in 2008. The man didn’t wait that very quickly there would be much more pets in the shelter than he expected. The shelter can be called overcrowded. But this word doesn’t fully describe the situation, because at the moment Sasha, along with other volunteers, take care of more than 750 dogs.
This story began back in 2008, when Sasha was returning to his hometown of Nis. A man was walking home from work and suddenly on his way met four puppies , which were thrown into the street. Sasha couldn’t pass by, and even without a plan on how to proceed furthe, he nevertheless took all four home.
Thus began a long road, which led to the fact that today Sasha is one of the most famous animal rights activists in Serbia.
Not a single stray dog that came across the man’s path was left without help.
Teaming up with 6 other volunteers, the man built a shelter in an attempt to help as many animals as possible.
The shelter lives on donations that come from all over the world. Sasha is very kind to his wards, he knows the name of every dog that came to him, makes sure that they receive veterinary care, are vaccinated and sterilized. Each of his pets receives a microchip that allows him to be identified.
Now 750 dogs live in the shelter and in just 10 years Sasha has helped more than 1,200 pets, many of which managed to find a new family.
Sasha understands that the shelter is overcrowded, but he can’t refuse any animal that needs his help.
